It's Been a Delight

It is with sadness but peace that we announce the official closing of WildRoots Juice Bistro.  It is time for us to embrace that this chapter has come to an end and an exciting new one is on the horizon.  After a month of consideration we found it to be the best decision that we close the online store. I will however be taking personal juice cleanse orders for anyone still looking for a WildRoots Organic Juice Cleanse. You can email us at wildroots33@gmail.com to place an order (cash only).

Scott and I are taking the time to regroup and fill the piggy bank once again. It was an amazing year and we had such a great experience. It was a joy to get to meet everyone out in the community and help people reach their personal health goals. I will continue my practice as a Certified Holistic Health Coach and focus on my passion, Cancer Prevention and Care. I’ll also be looking for a new job – if anyone is looking for an administrative assistant/office manager… I’m your woman! ;)

We want to mention a very special thanks to our family who supported us through this crazy adventure. We couldn’t have kept sane without their help. Also, a big thank you to Nina! We wouldn’t have been able to even dream of this adventure without her believing in us and helping us by being our angel investor.

THANK YOU! Your support has meant the world to us!

Organic Juice Break Down - Liver Be Lite

Liver Be Lite • Organic Cold Pressed Juice

This organic juice can be found in the WildRoots Organic Juice Cleanse and also the 'Athletic Juice Bundle'. The WildRoots Organic Juice Cleanse comes with 5 organic juices and 1 Almond Milk. The last juice of the day during the cleanse is the 'Liver Be Lite' juice. It's loaded with vegetables and the extraordinary powerful healing root, Turmeric.

This organic juice helps your body heal overnight. Working on your liver and helping it detoxify the built up toxins that your liver works so hard to get rid of on it's own. The turmeric helps relieve aches & pains in your body from exercise or regular daily stress. Kale is an excellent source of iron and chlorophyll which helps rebuild cells. Waking up in the morning you feel refreshed and your body feels relaxed. Great way to help your body while you get some deep sleep!

If you have any questions about the WildRoots Organic Juice Cleanse, feel free to contact us and ask away!

Broccoli Sprouts Can Detox Pollutants

Cancer Fighting Vegetables to the Rescue

A new study out of China that was done by the researchers from John Hopkins University and other institutes from China & United States found that broccoli sprouts were able to flush out toxin pollutants from the body fastener than any other cruciferous vegetable.
"The results were published in the journal Cancer Prevention Research.  They found that throughout the 12-week period the participants taking the broccoli sprout drink increased their rate of excretion of benzene by 61%.
Benzene is a known carcinogen.  In the U.S. benzene exposure comes predominantly from car and truck exhaust, emissions from coal and oil combustion, evaporation from industrial sites, and gas stations.  Smoking is another source of benzene exposure. "
It is known that cruciferous vegetables like kale, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, and brussels sprouts are known to fight cancer by improving the liver's ability to detox and cleanse. These vegetables contain glucoraphanin. "It is shown when glucoraphanin is chewed or swallowed it produces a cancer-protective compound called sulphoraphane.  Sulphoraphane activates enzymes that take up the pollutants and flush them out in the urine."

Just another reason to eat all your broccoli and brussel sprouts to protect your body from built up toxins from our environment! Our WildGreen Organic Juice is a great way to obtain concentrated high quality amounts of kale and green vegetables that your body can easily digest and use correctly in the body. Removing the process of breaking down the fibre allows the body to instantly absorb the nutrients in the organic juice.

You can read more about the study here.

When Should I Start an Organic Juice Cleanse?

Here at WildRoots we often receive several WildRoots Organic Juice Cleanse orders for a Monday start. Monday does often feel like the best option but it should really be based upon your schedule and your system.

We often recommend you start your cleanse when you will have more "down time" and are able to rest more than usual. I enjoy starting my 3 Day WildRoots organic juice cleanse on a Wednesday and then that way on Saturday I can start my healthy habits of cooking at home and making delicious vegetable filled meals. It also allows me to still enjoy all my exciting outdoor activities I have planned for the weekend!

I wouldn't recommend starting your juice cleanse during a time when you know your stress levels will be higher than usual. Along with keeping your activity levels low, you should also keep your stress levels on the lower side. Your body needs the time & opportunity to naturally release all those built up toxins and build new healthy ones.  Also keep in mind that you should give your self at least a day before your cleanse to start eating clean and drinking more water.

We have found that doing an organic juice cleanse with a partner/friend always helps! You are able to compare your journey and lean on each other for support.

When do you like conquering your organic juice cleanse?
Tell us in the comments below if you have any helpful hints or tricks on how you choose a start date!

Where Have You Been? On a Food Truck!

So much has changed since the last time I checked in and I've been avoiding blogging because I had to keep this secret for quite a while. I just couldn't not hint at it if I came on here to chat with you all.

So here it is... We are opening up a Healthy Food Truck in our city, Port Moody!
It's called WildRoots Juice Bistro . Scott and I will serve cold pressed organic juices, smoothies, healthy salads, soups, wraps/sandwiches and other healthy snacks. We plan on opening at the end of April but most likely the beginning of May. You can follow adventure on Facebook or Twitter @WildRootsBC

This business idea has been in the background for about a year now. It's amazing to see it all come together and a dream coming true right in front of our eyes. Still at times I feel like it's not real and something is going to happen but then I remember nope... this is real! I love it! We bought the truck in February and it's currently being fabricated to fit our needs. At home we have been narrowing down our food choices/recipes and working on the different juices we will offer.

The "Before" Picture of our Healthy Food Truck
So why a healthy food truck? The idea for the food truck came to me more than a year ago when I noticed that our community was resorting to harmful unhealthy food because they just didn't have any other options when they were on the go. At the same time my mom was told she was at her limit for chemotherapy treatments and the next step was to try new pharmaceutical drugs from Europe. After listening to her tell me "Michelle, I will never give cancer a chance to live in my body again! I will never feed my body junk food again! There's no reason for anyone to have to go through this". I knew it was time to help spread the word about prevention of cancer and other diseases that we can control. I'm huge believer that we can heal and do our best to prevent disease with pure clean food. On the side of the truck I will put up daily health tips, tricks & "did you know...". Education is key!

I have also created a cleanse called "The WildRoots Juice Cleanse" and it was created to align with your 24hr Qi Cycle. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (and other ancient healing traditions in Asia) vital energy flows through the twelve organs and completes one cycle every twenty-four hours. Completing the activity, such as eating, at the right time, ensures that energy flows properly and the digestive system works at its best. Each juice is designed for a particular organ and part of your body, which should be focused on and cleansed. The cleanse is available for delivery around the Port Moody area before we open the truck.

In other news... We got married! :)

So that's what has been happening in my life lately.
How is everyone?

Just Breathe

With each stress piling onto another I felt my shoulders rise a little higher. Ever felt that tension?
I definitely can tell when the pressure or stress is getting to much for me. Any little physical pain sends me on irritated rampage on anyone in site. It it makes me extremely upset to be like that because I truly strive to be positive and filled with joy.

I stopped yesterday when I could feel the irritation and tears start rising and thought "what am I not doing?". Not too add more pressure to myself but to examine my daily routine. The funny thing is that in times when you need a practice, routine or self love is when you avoid it at all costs. Saying that you "don't have time" or "I should be doing...... not this". When in reality that self love is what will help heal your soul, calm your stress and allow you to achieve so much more. I have clients who know how amazing and fulfilled they would feel if they just went for a small walk but instead find any justification why they shouldn't. They finally give in and are elated with the aftermath.

What was I denying myself? Meditation. Each day I would remind myself that it would be beneficial to sit down in the morning to meditate. Even if it was just 5 or 10 minutes, but morning after morning I skipped right past that lonely meditation pillow and added another binding stress to myself. So last night I stopped talking about it and just took a step. Small but immediate, I sat down and listened to a guided mediation. I wasn't ready to do it on my own yet so I received help from a guide. After 10 minutes I got up and felt I had finally stretched through "something". Today I sat down again and just breathed. Letting it all go. Gently my shoulders relaxed and a smile grew on my face. Tomorrow I will do it again and break away the built up tension that is getting in my way of happiness, positivity and adventure.

One small step at time. Just breathe. It will all work out.

What are you denying yourself that you know would make the world of difference in your life? Or how are you enjoying self love?

I'd love for you to share.

Pink Kicker Juice Recipe

Here's an awesome tasting juice recipe that I created this week. I wanted it to help prevent colds, good for your blood and help prevent bad cell growth. The best part of this juice is that it's super easy and refreshing to drink. No need to guzzle this one down. It actually tastes pretty similar to a tomato cocktail. I call it the "Pink Kicker" as it helps kick those nasty bad cells in your body to the curb and it's just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The grapefruit and tomato in the juice both contain large amounts of vitamin C and antioxidants that help keep your immune system running smoothly. Grapefruit and tomato also contain a very lovely thing called Lycopene which helps lower your risk of several different kinds of cancer and also helps stop cancer cells from spreading or growing.

The beets in the juice contain high amounts of antioxidants. They help detox the body and provide anti-inflammatory support. There are several vitamins and minerals found in beets as well. Beets are rich in anthocyanins, the pigment that makes the beet red, and is responsible for the repair and protection of DNA in the body.

Pink Kicker Juice Recipe
One large grapefruit
One large tomato
Half red apple
One medium beet
Beet greens from the beet

Enjoy!
